James F. Penhollow, 84 of North East, MD, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 in North East, MD surrounded by his family.

Born in New London, CT, on December 31, 1931; he was the son of the late William H and the late Jane C (Sylvia) Penhollow.

James retired from Cecil County Government as a road superintendent in the 2nd district.  He was previously employed by Greggo & Ferrara Construction, James Julian Construction, Maryland Forest Service, and he was one of the original 911 dispatchers for Cecil County.  He was a life member of the North East Fire Company, Inc. holding positions of Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain, Lieutenant and a member of the board of directors for many years.  He was passionate about the annual fire company carnival and ran the pizza stand for over 30 years.  James was a member of the Harford-Cecil Fireman’s Association and inducted into their Hall of Fame; Cecil County Fireman’s Association serving as Past President, Vice President, and  Chairman of  VLOSAP for 30 years.  James served on the Town of North East Board, North East Police Dept. Commissioner, and a member of the Eder-George Post 85 29th Division Association of the Maryland National Guard.

 James is predeceased by his wife Geraldine R. Penhollow and Son, Dwain M Penhollow.

He is survived by one son, David “Mike” Penhollow (Wendy) of North East, MD; one daughter, Monica A Penhollow (Doc) of North East, MD; only Grand Daughter Maggie Penhollow of North East, MD; one sister: Judy Guy of North East, MD and one brother, Allen Penhollow of Darlington, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901.  Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to North East Fire Company, Inc. c/o Crouch Funeral Home, or Eder-George Post 85 29th Division Association of the National Guard c/o Crouch Funeral Home.
