Ira Clyde Holbrook, Sr., 83 of Elk Mills, MD, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 in the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, DE.

Born in NC, on August 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Johnny C. and Flossie (Casey) Holbrook.  

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Holbrook worked as a spray painter, 6 years at General Motors and 34 years for Chrysler Assembly in Newark, Delaware.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Mark Martin.  He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, working on cars, wrestling and his frequent trips to see everyone at the McDonald’s on Belle Hill Road. Clyde Holbrook spent a lifetime being a master mechanic and helping others with his talents.   Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Prior to his illness, he helped with the food missions at Baldwin UMC for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Shirley Holbrook; their children: Bonnie Sue Nagle of Rising Sun, MD, Patricia M. Bernal (Luis) of Elkton, MD, Sue Watson (Stan) of Rising Sun, MD, Ira C. Holbrook, Jr. (Cyndi) of North East, MD and Blenda J. Holbrook of Elkton, MD;   two brothers: Bobby Holbrook of Elkin, NC., Mack Holbrook of Colora, MD and a sister: Barbara Sellers of Elkin, NC; and his 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Charles Rossiter and will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD.

Family and friends may visit 10:00-11:00 a.m.

In addition to flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Baldwin Fire Recovery Fund in care of Crouch Funeral Home.

Interment will follow services in Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.
