"Skip" and I were close through high school and just a few years more before Life and Fate led us down different paths. Yet he remains a best friend forever. Funny, steadfast, loyal, and generous, he was all of these and more. While he was a senior in high school, I came home on leave from the USAF for four brief days. Skip handed me the keys to his prized '50 Ford, gun metal gray with "laker plugs." "You've only got a little while, Joe, I can walk for a couple days. See everyone you can see. I'll drive you to the bus when you're done." I'm gonna miss you, Skip. God really knows how to pick us fine friends. My heart goes out to your family. I share their sorrow. But, in geezerhood, we realize grief is the price we pay for daring to love and now own these treasured memories. Rest In peace, my friend, and keep an eye out for me. I expect a wonderful reunion in God's Heaven.
