Pansy Waddell, 86 of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, DE.

Born in Wilkes County, NC, on December 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Flossie (Casey) Holbrook.  She was the wife of John Preston Waddell who preceded her in death on March 30, 1993.

Pansy was a member of Baldwin UM Church, Elk Mills, MD and also attended North East Church of God, North East, MD.

She was a great cook, with one of her specialties being the best vegetable soup.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, country music, and was an avid fan of Del Reeves.  Most of all she loved her family, cooking for them and enjoying time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons: Preston Wayne Waddell (Robin) of Elk Mills, MD, Clinton D. Waddell of Cherry Hill, MD; son-in-law: Larry Jones of Elk Mills, MD; a sister: Barbara Sellers (Michael) of Thurmond, NC; three brothers: Clyde Holbrook (Shirley) of Elk Mills, MD, Mack Holbrook (Bev) of Colora, MD, Bobby Holbrook (Rita) of Elkin, NC; 7 grandchildren: Gina Waddell Cooper, Eric Waddell, Jaysin Waddell, Jonathan Waddell, Brandy Wynegar, Kristen Edge and Ryan Jones; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren; and her best friend: Becky Pennington of Newark, DE.

In addition to her husband and parents, Pansy was also preceded in death by a son: Richard D. "Doug" Waddell; a daughter: Rita L. Jones; and 5 siblings: Carl Holbrook, Lundy Holbrook, Claude Holbrook, Mazie Campbell and Muriel Stout.

Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Charles Rossiter will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow services in Rose Bank Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Baldwin UM Church Fire Recovery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
