I was a customer of Joe's fiber business for many years. I just found out about his passing this morning. His loss saddens me deeply, Joe was more of a friend than a salesman, and he was dang good at both. My deepest regrets and sympathy to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed, I'm sure he touched many hearts,
he touched mine and I miss him already.

I knew Joe while I was president at Weed Instrument Company in Round Rock, TX.
Joe was a wonderful person. With Joe it seemed he was always working just for you. He was very thorough in all of his work and you could count on him to make the sale. Joe was very honest in all his dealings and did not have the typical salesman attitude. I always respected Joe's opinion. When I retired Joe got me a signed Cal Ripken ball. It sits on my bookshelf and over the years since my retirement whenever I saw the ball I would think of Joe. I will still do that. May God bless Joe's family in their time of sorrow. Bobby Vernengo

Hi Joyce,
It has been awhile so I am not sure if you remember me. I heard about Joe's passing from a mutual friend. I am distraught by this news and it pains me to have let so much time elapse between opportunities to see one another. Please know that you and the boys are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
If we love people then we are always open to bringing people into our lives. Sometimes life keeps those people in our lives daily and other times they are with us for a shorter period of time, some just a passing encounter but then there are those who leave an impact even if life creates a distance between encounters. There are certain personalities who enter our lives and leave an indelible mark, it's in their DNA to have such an impact on others. Joe Flatau was such a person. They are special and they are rare and for me there is an open hole in my heart from the loss of such a person, a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time but I will leave you with words that have helped me get through the loss of special people we love.
When Someone you Love dies ... You never get over the loss, you just slowly get through each day, but you always keep them tucked safely in your Heart.
I am not able to be with you on Friday but I will be with you in spirit and thought and prayer and I hope that we can find time to see one another and talk fondly about this special person who has left us way too soon.
With Love, Jim & Gina Farrell

Joyce, I am so sorry for Joe's passing. He was a terrific guy and I was so happy for you that you two got together!
I can never remember a less than great attitude from him at any time I encountered him I high school. Unfortunately, our paths didn't cross much after high school and just at occasional reunions.
Please except my sincere condolences. Tell all of your family "Hi" from me.
