Rita Tyrie Obituary

Rita Elizabeth Tyrie, 80 of North East, MD, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at home surrounded by family.

 

Born in West Conshohocken, PA, on April 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Agnes (Hayes) Campbell.  She was the wife of the late Norman L. Tyrie who passed December 2016.  Rita was also preceded in death by her 3 younger siblings: Julia Travaglini of Pennsburg, PA, Patrick Campbell of West Conshohocken, PA and MaryAnne Leflar of West Conshohocken, PA.

 

Rita went to St. Gertrude’s Elementary School and graduated from St. Matthew’s High School where she was a drummer in the high school marching band.  Prior to her retirement, Rita worked as a receptionist at S.T. Johnson Corporation in Philadelphia as well as Adelphia Sprinkler Company in West Conshohocken.  She enjoyed cooking, loved murder mysteries and was an avid Agatha Christie fan.  Most of all she loved her family and many friends, always enjoying the time she could spend with them.  She and Norm enjoyed traveling by boat each winter to spend their time in Islamorada, FL with friends. 

 

Rita is survived by her daughter: Kimberly Kenderdine and Grandson Christopher Kenderdine both of Drexel Hill, PA.  Her nieces and nephews. Benjamin Leflar (Valarie) of Wayne, PA Lyndsey Leflar (Charles) of West Conshohocken, PA, James Travaglini (Erika) of Pennsburg, PA, Damian Travaglini (Amanda) of Green Lane, PA, Adrienne Ulmer (Michael) of East Greenville, PA, and Michael Travaglini (Danelle) of Harleysville, PA.  As well as her great nieces and nephews Tylor, Lauren, Chase Riley, Paige, Olivia Mae, Mia, Owen, Chase, Gabriel, Jude Norah, Josephine, Hunter and Jack.  She especially loved “the Brats” and enjoyed long visits with them. 

 

Rita was also lucky to have an extended family through her loving husband and is also survived by: stepchildren: Jeff Tyrie (Maryjane) of North East, MD, Randy Tyrie of Elkton, MD, Juli (Scott) Raymond of Fort Wayne, IN; 9 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.

 

Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00pm at Crouch Funeral Home 127 South Main Street, North East, MD with visitation beginning one hour prior to services.

 

In lieu of flowers: donations may be made to Amedisys Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, both in care of Crouch Funeral Home, P.A.
