Richard K. Tomita

Richard King Tomita, 81 of North East, MD, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Christiana Care, Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Edward Kinjiro Tomita and Ruth Naomi (Ward) Tomita.   

Mr. Tomita enjoyed working as a self-employed food broker.

He was a kind and generous man, who was an integral part of Amazing Grace Outreach Ministry/US Food Rescue, Middletown, DE, serving as the president and volunteering alongside Carolyn Ferretti and Ruth Taylor.  For many years, he was very active with Waterfront Worship in North East Town Park, volunteering in whatever capacity needed, setting up for services and picking up coffee. 

Mr. Tomita enjoyed boating, a good glass of wine and shopping.  Just recently he discovered the joy of bird watching, and especially liked watching the eagles fly over North East River.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Sonja Tomita; stepson: Richard Troshak; step granddaughters: Liesel and Tonya Troshak; his sister: Gloria Tomita; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by step grandson: Jeremy Troshak; and step granddaughter: Christa Troshak.

Memorial service will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amazing Grace Outreach Ministry/US Food Rescue, in care of the funeral home.
