Obituary

Our beloved Brother, Father, Papaw, and Friend, Oscar Duane Combs, age 91, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Duane was born on September 23, 1931, in the small town of Coal City, West Virginia. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. Then, he worked for Eastern States for 42 years, while raising his beautiful family in North East, Maryland. Once he retired, he had more time to pursue his love for getting together with his family and friends, gardening, hunting, and watching the Orioles team play.  He attended First Baptist Church of North East, and he loved the Lord with his whole heart and served Him faithfully.

Duane is preceded in death by his wife Faye Combs, daughter Donna Combs Purple, and four brothers Jack Combs, John L. Combs, Roscoe Combs, and Earl Combs.

Duane is survived in death by his children: son Steve Combs, daughter-in-law Jean Combs, daughter Becky Combs Hons, son-in-law Dave Hons, and son-in-law Jon Purple.

By his grandchildren: granddaughter Stefanie Combs Seamster, grandson Phillip Combs, granddaughter Jessica Purple (husband Mathew Meyer), granddaughter Jordan Hons (husband John Hons), and granddaughter Shannon Hons.

By his great-grandchildren: granddaughter Aliyah Seamster, grandson Otis Purple Meyer, and granddaughter Peach Purple Meyer.

By his siblings: sister Doris Blevins, brother-in-law Don Blevins, sister Eula McCoy and brother-in-law Gary McCoy.

He will be forever loved and dearly missed by all. We are so grateful that he is now in Heaven with the Lord, and we celebrate his legacy of a life well lived.
