Lois "Freda" Hylton Rhodes

Lois “Freda” Hylton Rhodes, 77 of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in the John's Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.

Born in War, WV, on April 2, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Cleve and Ella Lena (Jeter) Helton.  She was the wife of the late Jack Rhodes.

Lois worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier in Perryville, MD.  She also worked at Little Weaver’s in Elk Neck, MD as a clerk for many years.

She was a member of North East Methodist Church, North East, MD and enjoyed yoga, reading, watching movies.  She enjoyed life and loved the time spent with her family.  

Survivors include her siblings: Don Hylton (Gerrie) of Elkton, MD, Wanda Hylton Pritchard of Elkton, MD and Linda Newberry of Clintwood, VA; grandchildren: Natasha Lawder (Paul) of Havre de Grace, MD, Makenzie Rhodes and Justin Rhodes both of North East, MD; great grandchildren: Gage, Wyatt and Avery Lawder.  She is also survived by two sister-in-laws: Pat Hylton of Elkton, MD and Doris Rhodes of North East, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lois was also preceded in death by her two sons: Randy and David Rhodes; sister: Cleo Hockett; two brothers: Tom Hylton and Lynn Hylton; and two grandchildren: Brittany and Tony Rhodes.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm at North East Methodist Cemetery, 101 Cemetery Road, North East, MD.
