Lewis C. Cavender

Lewis C. Cavender, 89 of Newark, DE, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Born in Elkton, MD on November 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mary (Clay) Cavender.   

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force.  Retiring after 42 years of service for Chrysler, Lewis worked as a Material Handler.

He was very much into sports and enjoyed golf, basketball, bowling, baseball, biking, volleyball, ping pong and dancing, participating in the Senior Olympics. 

Lewis met his wife at the Merryland Roller Rink.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge, New Castle & Middletown, DE, and a member of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, North East, MD.

Survivors include his loving wife: Mary (Connors) Cavender; children: LuAnne C. Walker (Robert) of Newark, DE and Paul M. Cavender (Margie) of Bear, DE; sister: Patricia Hoover of Elkton, MD; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow in St Mary Anne's Cemetery, North East, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church.
