Kenneth Dudley “Jake” VanDyke, Jr., 80 of Rising Sun, MD, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, in UM Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre De Grace, MD.
Born in Elkton, MD, on December 9, 1941, he was the son of the late Kenneth D, Sr. and Doris (Keys) VanDyke.
Jake enjoyed feeding the birds, playing cards and gardening. In his younger years, he farmed and was a member of the IBEW. He retired as a Maintenance Mechanic, employed by Goodie’s Refrigeration, Rising Sun, MD.
Survived by his wife: Joan (Reynolds) VanDyke, one daughter: Wendy Smith (Roy) of Rising Sun, MD and two sons: Kenneth D. "Bo" VanDyke, III (Kimberly) of Rising Sun, MD and Andrew VanDyke (Colleen) of Naples, Italy, three sisters: Shirley VanDyke (Ed Davis), Linda Holbrook (Bobby), and Patty Moore (Chuck), three brothers: John VanDyke (Lynn), Jim VanDyke (Janet) and Jerry VanDyke (Debby) all of Rising Sun, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Emily Miller, Kenneth D. VanDyke, IV, Juliana Clough, Kelcie Nieman, Andrew VanDyke, Delaney VanDyke and Emma VanDyke. Also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard VanDyke.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Janes United Methodist Church, 213 North Walnut Street, Rising Sun, MD. Funeral service conducted by Rev. Ronald Estep, will begin at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow services in Brookview Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD.
