John L. Crothers, Sr.

John L. Crothers, Sr., 90 of North East, MD, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on January 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Samuel Ralph Crothers and Ethel (Norman) Crothers. He was the husband of the late Robbie J. Crothers who passed June 18, 2009.

John retired from Cecil County Public Schools after 35 years of service as a vehicle mechanic.

He was a 73-year member of the North East Fire Company, serving as Past President. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.  John enjoyed his 11 cats, eating out and just driving around.

Survivors include his son: John L. Crothers, Jr., of North East, MD; daughter: Robin J. Crothers of Elkton, MD; grandchildren: Hilary Crothers Moore, Erin Crothers, Rachel Crothers Henley all of North East, MD; and his great grandchildren: Kathryn Moore, Draven Henley, Jasmine Henley and Gideon Crothers-Steele.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow services in Friends Cemetery, Calvert, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to either North East Fire Company or Chesapeake Feline Association, both sent in care of the funeral home
