Joann Campbell Cohen, 78, of Dover, DE passed away suddenly on Monday, November 16, 2020.
Born in Milford, DE on June 28, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Short Campbell and Emma Johnson (Walls) Campbell.
Joann graduated from Shepherd College, with a BA in Music, and was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. After college, she married her beloved husband, Rev. Conrad “Connie” Cohen and began the fulfilling life of a Methodist minister’s wife. Together they served the Lord at several area churches including, Christ Church, North East, and Atonement UM Churches.
Her love of all music and singing, led Joann to be involved in music ministries at each church they served. She was Senior Choir Director at North East UMC, Carol Choir Director and member of the Senior Choir at Atonement UMC. In addition, as a member of Wesley UMC, she was part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Jewelry Manager for the church’s Clothing Closet. She and Connie led and participated in numerous Bible Studies everywhere they served.
Joann was an accomplished piano player and teacher and enjoyed passing her love of playing on to her many students. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, scrapbooking and was an avid collector of many things, but especially loved her lighthouses. Her biggest joy in life was being “Ma” to her 6 grandchildren.
She is survived by her best friend of 61 years and loving husband of 56 years: Rev. Conrad M. ”Connie” Cohen; their children: Jill Lynn Cohen (James Forsman) of Elkton, MD, Rev. Jack David Cohen (Melissa) of Port Deposit, MD; and her six beautiful grandchildren: Jacob David Cohen, Emma Gayle Cohen, Rachel Jordan Cohen, Natalie Grace Hamma, Hannah Joy Cohen and Judah John Cohen.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. John Hobbs and Rev. Jack D. Cohen will be held Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Haven Community Church, 48 Flint Drive, North East, MD. Public graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road. Milton, DE.
