James A. Duckenfield, 68 of North East, MD, died suddenly Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 11, 1944, he was the son of the late James Alfred and the late Eleanor (Robinson) Duckenfield.
He was a graduate of Millersville, Temple and Weidner Universities, obtaining various degrees.
He was Administrative Director for manage care for many social agencies in Philadelphia, PA.
Mr. Duckenfield was an avid member of the YMCA. He enjoyed running and ran in over 20 marathons and triathlons. He was also an avid sailor, sailing all over the Chesapeake Bay and Florida. He enjoyed gardening, reading, bread baking and building several dinghies in his garage.
Survivors include his loving wife: Shirley Duckenfield of North East, MD; beloved daughter: Kara Pollak and husband David of Colora, MD; 4 grandchildren: McKenzie, Skyler, Kamryn and Benjamin; stepmother: Ruth Duckenfield; 1 sister: Diane Duckenfield; 1 stepbrother: Bert Jones; and 2 stepsister: Elaine Jones and Ruth Pennington; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, conducted by Father Samuel Hartman will be held Monday, July 30, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Cecil County YMCA, in care of the funeral home.
