George Benson Jackson, 88 of North East, MD, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born in Elkton, MD, on July 20, 1933, he was the son of the late George H. and Muriel (Will) Jackson.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during Korean War. After discharge, he continued serving his country, working as a mechanic and retiring from Aberdeen Proving Ground.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of North East for many years.
George kept active and worked to stay fit. He enjoyed cutting firewood, tennis, riding his motorcycle and bike, mowing grass and playing pool. He was an avid pocket knife collector.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years: Betty G. Jackson; their sons: Richard Benson Jackson (Margery) of Rising Sun, MD and David Eric Jackson (Sandy) of North East, MD; two sisters: Muriel Webb (Eddie) of Port Deposit, MD and Linda Comstock of OH; four grandchildren: Matthew, Rachel, Chrissy, Andrew; and two great grandchildren: Olivia and Addison.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother: David B. Jackson.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of North East, 206 Mechanics Valley Road, North East, MD, where visitation will be held on Friday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Interment will follow services in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Baptist Church of North East for the Garage Fund, in care of the funeral home.
