Obituary

Rev. Conrad M. “Connie” Cohen, 80 of Dover, DE, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021.

Born in Milford, DE, on January 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Alfred Hess and the late Elizabeth (McCullough) Cohen.  He was the loving husband of the late Joann Campbell Cohen his wife of 56 years who preceded him on November 16, 2020.

Connie completed his undergraduate studies at Western Maryland College in 1962 and entered Duke Divinity School.  He graduated in 1965 with a Masters of Divinity and with his wife Joann by his side, began his 43 year ministry as a Pastor in the United Methodist Church.  Together, they served the Lord by faithfully sharing the gospel and sharing the lives of parishioners in 8 different congregations from 1964 to 2006 including, Ebenezer, Piney Grove, St. Mark’s, Christ Church, North East and Atonement UM Churches.

As a graduate of Duke University, Connie was a huge fan of Blue Devils basketball and religiously followed their NCAA efforts each year.  As an adult, Connie enjoyed traveling, taking his first flight to India in 1981 and ultimately leading many tour groups over the years to Israel and to the experience of the “Holy Land”.  In his private time, he was an avid reader and loved watching action movies with his family.  Ultimately, his greatest love was investing himself in the lives of people and speaking to others about Jesus.

He is survived by his children: Jill Lynn Cohen (James Forsman) of Elkton, MD and Rev. Jack D. Cohen (Melissa) of Port Deposit, MD; his six beautiful grandchildren: Jacob David Cohen, Emma Gayle Cohen, Rachel Jordan Cohen, Natalie Grace Hamma, Hannah Joy Cohen and Judah John Cohen; and his siblings: brother; Frank Cohen of Elkton, MD and sister: Linda Garrison (Rob) of Salem, NJ.
