Bertha Wanzer Obituary

Bertha Pauline Wanzer, departed this life on January 21, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

 

Daughter to the late Harry Brown and Lola (Johnson) Brown, she was born May 13, 1928.  She graduated from George Washington Carver School.

 

She met and married the late Leonard Wanzer, Sr. in 1950.  From this union, they were blessed with 6 children.

 

She worked at Bata Shoe Factory in Belcamp and Perry Point where she left under Workman’s Comp for an on the job injury. 

 

Pauline loved to shop, especially on QVC, watch The Young and the Restless and General Hospital, play cards and enjoy time with her family. Her favorite saying was “Ride me till I sweat.”

 

She was preceded in death by her son: Leonard Wanzer, Jr.; mother and father: Harry and Iola Brown; sisters: Emma Liggins, Dorothy Fews, Barbara Thompson, Bettymae Brown, Martha Johnson; brothers: Henry Brown, Harry Brown, Sr., Clyde Brown, Herman Brown, Raymond Brown, George Brown, Sr. and her twin brother: Joseph Brown.

 

Left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters: Marissa A. Wanzer of Aberdeen, MD and Yolanda Wanzer of Havre de Grace, MD; 3 sons: Dennis Wanzer of Havre de Grace, MD, Wayne Wanzer of Havre de Grace, MD and Rodney Wanzer of Aberdeen, MD; 2 sisters: Sandra Perkins of Havre de Grace, MD and Cora Brown of DE; sister-in-laws: Velora Arizmendi of Annapolis, MD, Margo Brown of NJ; daughter-in-law: Lorraine Wanzer; 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and her best friends: Polly Hathaway, Jean Cason and Linda Robinson.

 

The family would also like to thank Lorien Bulle Rock for the love and care of our mother.

 

Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

 

Interment will follow services in Mount Carmel Cemetery, North East, MD.
