William Abel Wyman, devoted son, loving brother, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, on July 28, 2025, at the age of 23. William was born on September 16, 2001, in Chestertown, MD, to John Abel and Julianne Morgan Wyman. William grew up the second oldest of four children in Cecil County, MD, where he developed a love of the outdoors, adventure, and community service.

A proud Eagle Scout with Troop 131 in North East, MD, William lived the Scout Oath of duty to God and country, as well as service to others. He enjoyed memorable summers as a camper at Rodney Scout Reservation on the Chesapeake Bay, then later worked as a Counselor and Health Officer committed to teaching and guiding younger Scouts. The culmination of his Scouting journey was a trip to Philmont Scout Reservation in 2017, with he shared with his older sister and mother, and the World Scout Jamboree in 2019.

William graduated from The Tome School in 2020, where he was awarded “Most School Spirit”. Envirothon, Student Council, Key Club, Varsity Tennis and Basketball, HOBY Leadership Conference, and Catechist Assistant were some of his extracurriculars. He graduated cum laude in 2024 from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a Minor in Military Science. He served in the 4th Battalion Romeo Company and Palmetto Battalion Army ROTC, in which he proudly held Cadre Leadership positions (including H.A. Sergeant). Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Nursing Corps and became an active-duty nurse at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Med-Surg Unit (6-East). His choice to serve in the Army, a lifelong ambition, exemplified his desire to defend the values that make this nation great and lead with Duty, Honor, and Respect.

As a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association, American Legion Turner-Schrader Post 34 (Shortsville, NY), The Citadel Alumni Association, and Order of the Arrow (Nentego Lodge), William took pride in these service organizations.

Cooking, hiking, sailing, tennis, historical reenactments, target shooting, and spirited game nights were some of the many interests William shared with his family and friends. He also enjoyed building intricate models (Warhammer or military vehicles), a hobby he shared with his father. William's vibrant personality and sense of humor made a lasting impact on everyone who was lucky enough to cross his path.

William is survived by his Loving Parents, John and Julianne (Morgan) Wyman; Siblings, Morgan (Elliott Armstrong) Wyman of King George, VA, Abigayle Hannah Wyman and Nathaniel Pierce Wyman of Elkton, MD; Grandparents, Molly (Thomas) Phillips of Elkton, MD, Linda Morgan of Manchester, NY, Frederick Wyman of Chestertown, MD, Jack (Sharon) Smith of Erin, NY; Aunts and Uncles, Christopher Wyman of Chestertown, MD, Michael (Ashlen) Wyman of Austin, TX, Amy (Jon) Ashby of VanEtten, NY; Cousins, Ethan and Madison Ashby; and his two beloved cats, Callie and Critter. The family takes comfort in the memories they shared and the countless lives William touched.

William was predeceased by his grandmother, Nancy Wyman, and his grandfather, William Morgan, after whom he was named.
