Willard R. Ward
Born in North East, MD, on April 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Bertram C. and the late Helen L. (Rothwell) Ward. He was the husband of the late Clara Mae Ward who preceded him in death on December 30, 2010.
He served his country during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the U. S. Army, 315th Infantry Co. D., in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland. He received the Good Conduct Medal and several ribbons.
Mr. Ward retired from the Chrysler Corp., Parts Department in Newark, DE, after 42 years of service.
Willard was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horses until he discovered golf. Once he was introduced to this sport it was hard to keep him off the golf courses.
He is survived by his two daughters, Helen Ward and her husband Joe Kachmar of Elkton, MD, Mary Otto and her husband Rodney of Elkton, MD; two grandchildren, Kelly and Rodney Otto of New Castle, DE. Willard was preceded in death by his parents and his 12 siblings.
He will be deeply missed by his family and the many life long friends he has acquired throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 4, at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with a viewing for family and friends beginning at 10 am and services commencing at 11 am. Pastor Jim McBride of First Baptist Church of Elkton will officiate. Interment with full military honors will immediately follow at the North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
