Walter Edward Winters

Walter E. Winters, 73 passed away, Friday, March 13, 2009 at Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD surrounded by family and friends who loved him. Born in Beckley, WV, on July 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Daniel Raymond and the late Lillian D. Grayson Winters. Walter was a very generous and fun loving person who enjoyed helping someone in need. He had special talents for building and fixing anything. He loved gardening. He enjoyed the company of family and friends, fishing, hunting and turkey shoots. He also enjoyed the company of his dogs Bowser and Heidi. Walter worked for General Motors in Wilmington, DE, retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 435 and Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge 203. Survivors include his children: Tammy Carroll of Elkton, MD, Suzie Morrison of Perryville, MD, and Edward R. Winters of VA; his grandchildren: Bruce and Steffen Payne of TN, Amanda Bouchelle, Amber Payne, Amy Carroll all of Elkton, MD, P.J. Morrision of Perryville, MD, Rachel Lewis, Derek Hibberd, Louis Poppert all of North East, MD; 14 great grandchildren; and his companion of 25 years, Beverly Gorski of Elkton, MD. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Frank Winters; his former wife, Thelma Casteel Winters; two children: Linda Winters-Hibberd, Cathy Winters Poppert and grandson Craig Hibberd. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Dr. Stephen Hokuf will officiate. Interment will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Owens Cemetery, Laurel Bloomery, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Walter may be made to: North East Town Park or to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
