Walter K. 'Jimmy' Long, Sr.

Walter K. "Jimmy" Long, Sr., 87 of Rising Sun, MD, died suddenly Thursday, April 16, 2009. Born in Kent County, MD, on September 14, 1921, he was the son of the late William Beck and the late Florence Fithian Long. He was the husband of the late Doris Long who died in 2001. Mr. Long retired in 1981 from General Motors, Wilmington, DE after over 30 years of service. He was a member of Local UAW #435 and Chesapeake City Fire Co., where he served as Chief for 9 years. He also served as a Chesapeake City Police Officer. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. Survivors include a son: Walter K. "Kenny" Long, Jr. of Rising Sun, MD; a daughter: Doris Ann Stover of Elkton, MD; a sister, Minnie Luthringer of Earleville, MD; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Violet Silva Easter and Carolyn Marie Gonce. All services will be private.
