Wallace Manning, 60 of Elkton, MD, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Norfolk, VA, on August 20, 1948, he was the son of the late Linwood Manning, Sr. and the late Ivonia Smith Manning. Mr. Manning was the beloved husband of Jean Manning of Elkton, MD. Mr. Manning served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 30 years as a welder. He was a member of UAW Local 1183. He enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery at Howard's Market and watching sports. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Tasha Jones of Wilmington, DE, Melissa DuPree of Claymont, DE, and Kelly Manning of Elkton, MD; his brothers: Linwood Manning Jr. and Alfonza Manning, both of VA; his sisters: Mable Davis of VA, Mildred Rose of Philadelphia, PA, Victoria Gray and her husband Alzon of NC, Margie Griffin and her husband Albert Lee of VA, and Gladys Midgette of VA; his sister-in-laws, Nancy Briscoe of Elkton, MD and Linda Dollard and her husband Jessie of Wilmington, DE; his brother-in-laws, Arthur Briscoe, Sr. and his wife Vanessa of North East, MD and Jay Briscoe of North East, MD; 6 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his brother William Manning and mother-in-law, Chris Ann Briscoe. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 24, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
