V. Lucille "Lucy" Ward Walls

V. Lucille "Lucy" Ward Walls, 71 of North East, MD, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 in the Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born in Smith County, VA, on April 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late George and the late Josephine Thomas Riffey. She retired from W.L. Gore & Associates where she worked in Housekeeping. Lucy had a green thumb when it came to plants. She enjoyed collecting elephant statues, working crossword puzzles and her dog Sassy. Lucy is survived by her husband: Dennis Walls, three daughters: Virginia Ann Slade and husband Jim, Lynn Owens and husband Wayne, Karen Schweizer and husband John and two sons: Charles Ward and wife, Marie, and Earl Ward and wife, Sharon; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Vaughn, Daisy Reed, Ruby Billings, Mary Ann Billings and one brother: Mike Riffey. She is preceded in death by her brothers, George "Buddy" and Robert Riffey, and sister, Nancy Thomas. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Seth Hawkins, will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD., where there will be a viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Urgent Ambulance Service, Inc., c/o the funeral home.
