Age 84

Rev. Virginia “Ginny” Thompson Power, of Newark, DE, formerly of East Lansdowne, PA went home to her beloved God on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was a woman of strong faith who carried out God’s work.

Ginny worked as an accountant until her calling to become a pastor.  She graduated from Wesley College and Seminary School, then started her ministry at Shelemiah and Bethel Churches in Bay View, near North East, MD, followed by Holly Oak and Calvary in Wilmington, DE. She was an avid Phillies fan and gardener, loved music and being a faithful servant.

She is predeceased by her husband: Robert Power; parents: Ruth and David Thompson; and son: David Pedersen.  Survivors include her daughter: Beth Dally (Mark) and beloved granddaughter: Katy Dally; stepson: David Power; along with Faith daughters: Lori Cornell (Jack and grandson Andy), Robyn Dreyfuss and Maxine August.  Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 300 Marrows Road, Newark, DE. Viewing will begin at 9:30 am with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Bay View Cemetery, North East, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingswood UM Church or the Special Olympics of DE, both in care of Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901.
