Verna Vee (Mccarty) Walters

Verna Vee Walters, 75 of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at Christiana Care, Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.

Born in Salyerville, KY, on January 13, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Effie Margaret McCarty.  She was the wife of the late Gordon T. Walters who passed on July 2, 2023.

Before her retirement, Verna worked as a Dietary Aide at Newark Manor Nursing Center.  She was an amazing cook and shared her talents with many over the years, cooking at the North East River Yacht Club and various other restaurants.

She is survived by her granddaughter: Brianna L. Walters; a sister: Athalene Stewart; two brothers: Luke McCarty and Jerry McCarty; stepdaughter: Phyllis Walters; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Verna was preceded in death by her son: Gregory Louis Walters; six brothers: Abner, Delmar, Glen, Junior, Kenneth, and Rollan McCarty; and three sisters: Lorthea Baker Wanda Johnson, and Rita Barnes.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon.

Interment will follow services in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.
