It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vaughn Monroe Smith Sr. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Elkton, MD, at the age of 76. Born on May 14, 1949, in WV, to the late Luther and Helen (Rogers) Smith, Vaughn lived a life full of love, laughter, and countless adventures.
Vaughn proudly spent his career as an assembler in the automotive manufacturing industry, working for General Motors, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a hard-working man, also running his own business at the same time, working for 25 years in building, remodeling, and excavating. His craftsmanship extended beyond his profession; he was known for his remarkable woodworking skills, having created beautiful hope chests that many of his family and friends cherish. He enjoyed his 1930-1931 Model A Fords and liked working on all types of vehicles. Vaughn was a member of Bay Church, North East, MD.
A devoted family man, Vaughn is survived by his beloved wife, Sheree Smith; his daughter, Lisa (Dave) Wright of Westernport, MD; his sons, Vaughn Smith Jr. of Clayton, DE and Nicholas (Nicole) Baffone IV of Elkton, MD; two sisters, Arlene Elliott and Linda Rodgers along with six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one on the way. He took great joy in and loved them all dearly.
Vaughn's family and friends will remember him for his warm spirit, love of R-Ving, and his joyful singing and music-playing, which brought smiles to many faces.
A public viewing will be held at Crouch Funeral Home P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, allowing those who loved Vaughn to come together and celebrate his life.
