Van "Moon" Mullins, 77 of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Paynesville, WV. He was the son of the late Farley and Laura Mullins. Van was preceded in death by his wife: Berchie, son: Robert Michael, granddaughter: Michelle, and two brothers: Roy Mullins and Estil Stacy. He is survived by his son: Roger and fiancée Carol Proudfoot, grandson: Christopher Michael, great grandson: Christopher Zion, "adopted" daughter: Janet Wilson, three sisters: Deloris and husband Bobby Morgan of Fort Valley, VA; Vaugel and husband Charles Church of Statesville, NC; Linda and husband Greg Roberts of Ikes Fork, WV, four brothers: Carl Stacy of Hanover, WV; Kermit and wife Sharon Stacy of Bluefield, WV; Carmon and wife Chlela Stacy of Wilmington, DE; Sterial and wife Freda Stacy of North East, MD; and a host of family and friends to mourn his loss. Van retired from GM after 31 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War 1951-1954. "Moon" will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He was a pillar of strength during his wife and son's illness and death. A special thank you to the Community Hospice, You are true guardian angels in a desperate time of need. No words can express the appreciation we feel. Funeral Services will be 9:00 AM Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the North East Faith Tabernacle, 2256 W. Pulaski Highway, North East, MD 21901 where there will be a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North East Faith Tabernacle.
