Ted, a sailor, father, and partner to Susan, passed away in his sleep on July 29, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born on February 4, 1963, in Philadelphia, Ted was the oldest son of David Samuel Gresham Speedy and Dorothy Joan Speedy (nee Klenk). Ted was the older brother of James Speedy and Chuck Speedy. Ted grew up in Havertown and graduated from Haverford High School. Ted always enjoyed working with his hands and using the newest technology. He had a vast array of technical knowledge and could fix anything. You always knew Ted had worked on something because he wrote his name on everything.

Ted led a varied work career. He attended RETS Electronic School, and began work with Bell Atlantic as a videographer. He worked at various times for other TV stations including UPN 57. He later became an audio visual technician, holding many positions working on sound and video technologies. He most recently worked for ZNH Technologies of Norristown, helping to establish the installation team and mentoring junior technicians. He was an excellent boss and mentor.

Ted is survived by his children and grandchildren: Theo "TJ" (Monique), parents of Charlie, Henry and Thomas, and Kayla (Kyle Musal), parents of Reggie and Alfie.

Ted was the devoted partner of Susan Wray, spending 28 years together through thick and thin. Their love for each other was undeniable to those around them. Ted helped raise Susan's three sons, Michael, Chris, and Jon, and her granddaughter, Maddie June. Ted loved to be out on the bay. He was an avid sailor, owning and sailing boats out on the bay for the past 30 years. He talked with everyone, and always looked to have a good time. Those that knew him from Owen's Marina, Craft Haven and Sand Island will recall his captain's hat, big smile, and easy going attitude.

His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
