Sona Kay "Katy" Powers

Sona Kay "Katy" Powers, age 62 of Elkton, Maryland, died Sunday, September 7, 2003, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Pax, West Virginia on April 4, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Shan Clifford & Mary Gertrude Lafferty Lively. She was a resident of Cecil County, Maryland for 47 years. Mrs. Powers worked for the Union Hospital Federal Credit Union, Chabert Duval Interiors, and the Peoples Bank, Elkton, Maryland. She was a member of Baldwin United Methodist Church and Meadowview Homemakers. Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles E. "Chuck" Powers, Elkton, Maryland, children, Vanessa P. Brown and her husband, Robert, Elkton, Maryland, Grant E. Powers and his wife, Karen, Grand Blanc, Michigan, Sylvia P. Kilroy and her husband, D. Brian, Hudson, Ohio and Jeffery C. Powers and his wife, Marcia, Elkton, Maryland, two brothers, Elliott Douglas Lively, Brooklyn, Ohio and Buster Dean Lively, Morristown, Tennessee, a sister, Patricia Gay Dickinson, Meadow Bridge, West Virginia and seven grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by two brothers, Harless Grant, Jr. and Jack Denny Lively. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Baldwin United Methodist Church, Elk Mills Road, Elk Mills, Maryland where family and friends may call at 9:00 AM, at the church. Rev. Hubert "Bert" F. Jicha, III., of Baldwin United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow services in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Cherry Hill, Maryland.
