Shirley Bertha Taylor

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Bertha Taylor, of North East, Maryland, who left us peacefully on February 18, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on June 6, 1960, in Wilmington, Delaware, Shirley brought warmth, kindness, and joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Shirley spent a significant part of her career at the Delaware School for the Deaf and before that she was a CNA. She treasured her time spent in the company of her beloved daughters, Sarah Quartey and Laura Taylor, and her love for her family was evident in everything she did. Shirley was everyone's favorite Auntie and she was the go to caretaker if someone was ill.

Shirley had a tremendous wit. For holidays she would write poems for the family and make scavenger hunts for her girls. Shirley was a phenomenal cook - from beef jerky to fried chicken to every kind of pie imaginable.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Sarah and Laura; her dear brother, Don Fleeger, and sister-in-law, Cheryl; as well as brother-in-law Chris Figgs. Their lives have been forever enriched by her love and nurturing spirit.

Funeral services for Shirley Bertha Taylor will be private.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents Robert Fleeger and Alice Nickle and siblings Kathy Figgs, Karen Sparks, Bob Fleeger, and Harold Osborne.
