Shirley Louise Jackson

Shirley Louise Jackson passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2024. She was 93 years old. Shirley was born in WaWa, PA and had many happy memories of spending her early years on a dairy farm. She moved to Charlestown, MD at age 12 and later lived in North East most of her life. She worked as an executive secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground, also as secretary to the Principal at the North East Middle/High School and finally as secretary at the Cecil Vocational Technical Center as the secretary for the guidance office. She was a faithful member of the Five Rivers Church and in its earlier location, she was the Sunday School Superintendent and the head of the Women’s Missionary Council for many years.

She was married to the late Richard W. Jackson, Jr. for 66 years and is survived by her son: Richard G. Jackson, her daughter: Jill Jackson, her granddaughter: Arielle Scoglio as well as her two great-granddaughters: Lucy and Betty Powell. She is also survived by her niece: Vicki Balling and her grand-niece: Kristen Balling who both provided loving care to her in her final years.

On Thursday, May 9, there will be a wake at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street in North East. After the funeral there will be a brief committal service at the North East Methodist Cemetery on Cemetery RD.
