Shirley Ruth Atwell

Shirley Ruth Atwell, 79 of North East, MD, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born on June 16, 1946, in Grundy, VA, Shirley touched the lives of many throughout her journey, and her warm spirit will be deeply missed.

Shirley worked tirelessly in the manufacturing industry as a factory worker for Plasticord, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends survive her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Lewis Atwell; her parents, Grover Lee Harding and Mary Edith (Marshall) Harding; and her brother, David Harding.

A graveside service will be held on July 21, 2025, at 10:00 am at North East Methodist Cemetery, located at 101 Cemetery Road, North East, MD 21901. Everyone is welcome to join us as we celebrate Shirley's life and bid farewell to a truly special woman.
