Selma Augusta Cain

Selma Augusta Cain, 91 a lifetime resident of North East, MD, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 in Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. Born on November 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Floyd H. and the late Elsie Carlson White of North East, MD. She was the beloved wife of the late Rowland Christian Cain who died on March 5, 1989. Selma owned her own beauty parlor for fifty years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, North East High School Alumni for 75 years, serving as president for 10 years, and a charter member of People Power of America. She enjoyed fundraising and supporting community programs. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Patricia Cain Craig of Spotsylvania, VA and Douglas Rowland Cain of North East, MD; her sister: Edith Hostetter of North East, MD; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, John Carlson White of Radnor, PA. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Thursday, May 13, 2010 commencing at 7:00 PM and again on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM before the service. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Cynthia Hoffman, will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
