Sarah Elizabeth Hannum

Sarah Elizabeth Hannum, 81 of Willow Street, PA, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA.

Sarah was born on October 25, 1942 in Phoenixville, PA to the late Esther P. and Winfield Smith Hannum.  She was a graduate of Phoenixville Area High School, Susquehanna University with a B.A., and West Chester University with her M.A.

She taught Language Arts for 30 years at Phoenixville Area Junior High, Rising Sun High School, in Rising Sun, MD, and Central and Shue Middle Schools in Newark, DE.

For nearly 30 years, she served as Parish Organist at St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church in North East, MD.  She made her home in North East from 1976 until 2014, then moved to Willow Valley Retirement Community in Willow Street, PA.

Sarah is survived by her sister: Martha H. Serrill and husband William L. Serrill; a niece: Allison S. Caccese and husband Douglas Caccese; a nephew: W. Doug Serrill; and two grandnieces: Madison and Ashley Caccese; also, the love of her life: Bob Marvel, for the last 10 years.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church, 315 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow services in the Christine Cameron Memorial Garden at the church.
