Listen to Obituary

Sally Jean Hodgson, age 80, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Christiana Care Union Hospital in Elkton.

Born in Hinton, West Virginia, on February 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Henry Parsons and the late Iva (Biggs) Nabb. Sally shared a loving marriage with her devoted husband, John D. Hodgson.

Sally retired from General Electric, where she worked for many years as an assembler. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and had a heart that was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she looked forward to making memories on trips to Atlantic City with her sisters. Blessed with a true green thumb, Sally found peace and fulfillment tending to her flowers and gardens, creating beauty wherever she planted.

Above all else, Sally's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose love filled her heart and whose lives were forever enriched by her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John D. Hodgson; her four sons, John Hodgson, Matthew Hodgson, Michael Hodgson, and Steven Hodgson; her four sisters, Rosemary Biggs, Jacqueline Biggs, Liz Perkins, and Ruby Heath; her brother, Leroy Dick; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Sturgill, Caroline "Hootie" Trent, and Patricia "Gail" Kerr; and her brothers, John Biggs, Harry Parsons, and Robert Parsons.
