Ruth Purner Simpson

Ruth Purner Simpson, 92 of North East, MD, died Monday, February 13, 2017 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.

Born in Charlestown, MD, on October 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and the late Martha (Meekins) Purner.

Mrs. Simpson retired as an executive secretary for the U.S. Navy.

She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the North East UM Church, North East, MD.

Survivors include her daughter: Lana A. Crook of North East, MD; 3 grandchildren:  Franklin R. Peterson, Jr. of Woodlawn, TN, John M. Peterson of Middletown, DE and Priscilla Jenette Crook of Princess Anne, MD; a brother: Marshall Lloyd Purner of North East, MD; 12 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband: Gilbert G. Simpson.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at North East Methodist Cemetery, 101 Cemetery Road, North East, MD.
