Ann D. Herstine, 92, North East, MD, Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her granddaughter’s home in Myersville, MD.  She was born in Elkton, MD on August 26, 1920, a daughter of the late Charles Ellis Deibert and Ruth Naomi Lebengood Deibert, and was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, MD having graduated from Elkton High School in 1938.

Mrs. Herstine was a long and active member of the North East United Methodist Church where she had been significantly involved with the Sarah Circle, many Bible groups, the church choir, the church Administrative Board and faithfully served as a church steward.  Ms. Herstine was also a member of the 5th District Hospital Auxiliary and had volunteered many long hours at the Union Hospital “Good as New Shop.”  She loved and enjoyed her family and spent as much time as possible travelling both in the United States and other parts of the world having visited, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and England. Her favorite trip had been a journey to Israel, the Holy Land of her beloved Lord and Savior.

Ann is survived by her son: Dr. James H. Herstine of Wilmington, NC; 5 grandchildren: Erik Herstine and Brent Herstine both of Wilmington, NC, Wendy Leatherman of Myersville, MD, Steven Wilson of Queen Anne’s, MD and Marcus Wilson of McHenry, MD; 6 great grandchildren: Bogan Herstine and Henry Herstine both of Wilmington, NC, Tucker Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO, Sydney Wilson of Philadelphia, PA, Buck Leatherman and Wally Leatherman both of Myersville, MD; her sister: Gene A. Taylor and her husband LTC Retired Joseph A. Taylor of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 brothers: Charles E. Deibert and his wife Nell of Elkton, MD and Frank H. Deibert  and his wife Betty Ann of North East, MD; a beloved sister-in-law: Ruth Deibert of Elkton, MD; 3 step grandchildren: Dr. Michael Livingston of Washington, DC, David Livingston of Garner, NC and Ridgley Livingston of Durham, NC; 3 step great grandchildren: Michael Carrick of Wilmington, NC, Nicholas Carrick of Durham, NC and Lura Livingston of Triangle, VA; plus many nieces and nephews, their families and several godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: Howard DeLancey (Deedie) Herstine; her daughter: Sandra Herstine Wilson; and her brothers: Foster, Jack and Davis Deibert.

Visitation will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Paul Leatherman III and Rev. Bert Jicha are scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, MD.

Interment will follow services in North East United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the 5th District Hospital Auxiliary, Union Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
