Now in the Arms of the Lord. Ruby B. Rowland a wonderful and loving mother went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2010. A prayer warrior, born on August 16, 1921, she was devoted to God and her husband of 26 years and to her 7 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Willard Isaac Rowland in 1964. Together they worked as missionaries in Palmer, Alaska, continuing in Elkton, Maryland as founders and Pastors of Bacon Hill Faith Tabernacle. After her husbands death she continued the ministry, preaching and teaching Sunday school, and is still loved and remembered by her students and members of the church. She retired from the ministry, and began attending the Elkton Church of God with Pastor Calvin and Barbara Woodring, whom she loved and respected She never ceased to pray anytime and anywhere for anyone. You would always find her reading the Bible or praying on her knees. She enjoyed canning, cooking and making crafts to enter into the Cecil County Fair. She also enjoyed yard sales and her produce stand. She will be deeply missed by all. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Laura Farmer; her sisters, Ethel Caldwell and Pearl Barker; her loving daughter in law Sue Rowland and her grandson James Rowland, Jr. She leaves her 7 children; James and Wanda of Palmer, AK, Wilbur and Anita of Elkton, MD, Wilmer and Hazel of Abingdon, VA, Charles and Deborah of Elkton, MD, Jerry and Naomi of Palmer, AK, Sandra Reed of Elkton, MD and Joyce and Ronald Collins of Elkton, MD; her grandchildren Laila and Reza Mirsajadi, Crystal Oliver, April Wickwire, Timothy Rowland and Annette Lotha, Wilbur Rowland, Jr., Amanda Blankley and Shannon Rowland, Elona and Wilmer Rowland, Jr., Chara Mize, Laura Rowland and Tiffany Rowland, Sara and Hope Rowland, Jennifer Tanner, Crissy Fleetwood and Justin Collins, Larry Reed and Dawn Lofland; and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Woodring, will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Elkton Church of God, 1121 Singerly Road, Elkton, MD, where visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow services at North East United Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.
