Roy B. Fanning

Roy B. Fanning, age 74, of Elkton, Maryland, died Monday, October 6, 2003, in Bland, Virginia. Born on March 31, 1929, in Bland Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert Glenn and Grace Pearl Havens Fanning. He was a resident of Cecil County, Maryland for 54 years. Mr. Fanning retired on October 31, 1986, after 35 years of service from G.M. as a trainer. He served from March 20, 1951 until March 19, 1953, in the U.S. Army earning the rank of Cpl T on July 24, 1952. He was a member of the North East United Methodist Church where he was a member of the North East United Methodist Men and the Company E 29th Division of the Maryland National Guard. He was a former member of the Cecil County Emergency Team and he was a retired member of the U.A.W. Local 435. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, outdoors, yard work, friends, neighbors, bowling, hunting and traveling. Mr. Fanning is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Ferguson Fanning, Elkton, Maryland, children, Lisa C. Pinder, Elkton, Maryland, Wanda F. Dinbokowitz, Warwick, Maryland, Nona V. Fanning, and Lori L. Hatton both of Elkton, Maryland, Roy Glenn Fanning, Chesapeake City, Maryland and Tara L. Price, North East, Maryland, siblings, Ruby Underwood, Pulaski, Virginia, Anna Louise Hall, Colombus, Ohio, Maxine Repass, Wytheville, Virginia, Clarence Fanning, Dover, Delaware and Gerald Fanning, Bland, Virginia, grandchildren; Kristin Pinder, Danielle and Andrew Dinbokowitz, Natesa and Nathan Wilson, Luke Hatton, Colt and Legend Price. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fanning was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard, Robert and Eugene Fanning. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Rev. Boyd B. Etter of the North East United Methodist Church will officiate. Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, October 10, 2003, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. Interment will follow services with full Military Honors in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, Maryland. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the North East High School Scholarship Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 588, North East, Maryland 21901.
