Ronald Allen Daniels, of Charlestown, MD, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and esteemed community member, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 74, at home. Born on May 29, 1950, in Perryville, MD, Ronnie dedicated much of his life to his family and his work in the railroad industry as a freight conductor.
With a deep commitment to service, Ronnie also spent 30 years as the Chief of the Charlestown Fire Company, during which he was honored to serve on the Board of Directors and held multiple positions, culminating in his induction into the Harford-Cecil Fire Association Hall of Fame for an impressive 50 years of service. His legacy in the fire service reflects his unwavering devotion to protecting his community and supporting his fellow firefighters.
Ronald's life was enriched by his passions, particularly his love for deer hunting, being out on the water, and the cherished moments spent with family and friends around the pool on weekends. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and commitment to family, which will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shelvia Daniels; He was the loving father of Angie Simpson (Mark) of Charlestown, MD, and Cindy Patrick (Randy) of Port Deposit, MD; and the cherished grandfather of Courtney Simpson (Brandon), Mark Simpson (Diana), Zachary Daniels (Lindsay), Randy Patrick (Tracy) and Nikki Barker (Mackenzie). He also took immense joy in his great-grandchildren, Annie, Charli, Cali, Carson and Raegan who brought him endless pride and happiness; his brother, Herby Daniels of Perryville, MD; and his sisters, Susie Johnson of Rising Sun, MD, Mary Heverin of Perryville, MD, and Sandy Palmer of Colora, MD.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Bertha (Heath) Daniels.
Family and friends will gather to honor Ronnie's life through a series of services. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Crouch Funeral Home P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Following the service, interment will be in Charlestown Cemetery, Charlestown, MD, where Ronnie will be laid to rest, surrounded by the beauty of the community he so dearly loved.
Ronald Allen Daniels will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his remarkable contributions to his family and community. His spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind.
