Roger “Sonny” Coleman Miles Jr., 84, of Sebastian, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Born on January 5, 1942, in North East, Maryland, Sonny proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years before continuing his career at General Motors for over 30 years. After retirement he worked for NASCAR, which he was an avid fan. In his early years, Sonny enjoyed scuba diving and spearfishing with the Diamond State Diving Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Sonny joined the North East Fire Company, North East, Maryland on March 2, 1958 and was granted Honorary Lifetime Membership in the year of 2017.
Above all, Sonny’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margaret “Peg” Reynolds Miles, sons, Bryan Miles, wife (Terry), of Bear, Delaware, and Brandon Miles, Sebastian, Florida. His love for them was endless, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.
In addition, Sonny was a devoted grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Miles, Wilmington, Delaware and Logan Thomas Miles, Bear, Delaware and sister, Linda Nimtz, Okatie, South Carolina. Roger “Sonny” Coleman Miles Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Roger Coleman Miles Sr., mother, Doris Miles and sister, Wilma Vant Hoff.
A memorial service with an Honorary Lifetime Membership Service Tribute from the North East Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, Maryland. A reception will follow at the North East Fire Company, 210 South Mauldin Avenue, North East, Maryland.
