Roger Day Karpinski

Roger Day Karpinski, 79 of Elkton, MD, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Elmira, NY, on December 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank and the late Margaret Gott Karpinski. He was the husband of the late Mary L. Karpinski who died in October, 1998. He served his country admirably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roger retired from the Cecil County Board of Education where he worked as a custodian. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 6027, North East, MD. He enjoyed watching old movies and was an avid Orioles and Yankees fan. Survivors include his four daughters: Janice L. Karpinski of Belcamp, MD, Kathy A. Derosier of Wilmington, DE, Lisa M. Lipford of Forest Hill, MD, Mary Jayne Karpinski of Elkton, MD; his grandchildren: Eric, Amanda, Ashlea, Tina and Jeremy; and his great grandchildren: Eric, Jr., Tremya, James, Camryn, Aubry, Natalie and Zach. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Pete Gott, William Karpinski and Joseph Karpinski. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 9:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD.
