Roger N Conklin, Jr, 47 of Elkton, MD, went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2004, after a courageous and inspiring year long battle with multiple myeloma. After many hospitalizations this past year, he died in his home surrounded by the people he loved the most. Roger was born on February 6, 1957, and resided in Elkton, Maryland. He was a graduate of McKean High School and Delaware Technical and Community College. He was employed by Tetra Tech for thirteen years and then worked for Reybold Construction Company as the General Manager for the last sixteen years. Roger will be missed greatly by all those who worked with and for him at Reybold. A devout Christian, Roger loved being a member of the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church for the last fourteen years. He served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and most recently, an Elder. He also co-chaired on the building committee for the church. In the past, he served as a lay leader at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Elkton, MD, and he was on the Board of Directors at A Door of Hope. He and his wife were Foster Care Providers for Cecil County where many children were touched by his loving and caring nature. Besides serving the Lord Jesus Christ with his life, Roger also loved to ski with his family. His enjoyment for the sport started in Switzerland where he lived as a child. He and his family took many ski vacations each year. Roger also loved taking his wife and children on summer vacations to his family's island on Trout Lake, in Upstate New York. Roger will be remembered most for his great love and devotion to his Lord, and also his family. Roger is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Norma Lane Conklin; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Zach Winter; daughter, Annie Conklin; son, Mark Conklin; foster daughter, Chelsea Miner; sister, Judy Barnes; parents, Roger and Ruth Conklin; and many faithful friends.The burial service will be private. A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held on December 21, 2004, at 7:00 PM at the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2880 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, 19701, where visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, prior to the services.In lieu of flowers, the family is starting a memorial fund in Roger's honor. Donations may be made to Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2880 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, 19701, in Roger Conklin's name.
