Robert John Lubking, 78 of Charlestown, MD, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY, on August 15, 1930, he graduated from Mount Pleasant High School: Technical/Electrical in 1948. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lubking Crable. Survivors include his loving wife Meredith and children: Paul and his wife Diane of Windsor, PA, Carl of Charlestown, MD, Kathy of Elkton, MD, Donald and his wife Donna of Midlothian, VA; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bob retired in 1986 from the Burroughs Corporation, after 32 years of service in Field Engineering and as Product Information Manager. Prior to that, he served as Aviation Electrician, 1st Class in the United States Navy, Korean War. His boats were his greatest source of enjoyment. In New York, he was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary as Vessel Examination Officer, 9th District; taught boating safety and was a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club. Most recently he's been an active member of the National Rifle Association, Republican National Committee, Patrol Squadron Eight Alumni, U.S. Navy Memorial, American Legion Post #135 in Perryville, and St. John's United Methodist Church in Charlestown. Bob has chosen to be cremated. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Christiana Heart Center, or Helen Graham Cancer Center, Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
