Robert L. Bradley, Jr.

Robert L. Bradley, Jr., 72 of Charlestown, MD, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Elkton Care and Rehab, Elkton, MD. Mr. Bradley was surrounded by family and friends during his courageous battle with cancer. Born in Baltimore, MD, on January 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Robert L. and the late Rosa Gertrude Harkins Bradley. He was the husband of the late Nancy Bradley who died December 17, 2006. He served in the U.S. Army – 101st Airborne Special Forces Unit as a Paratrooper and Squadron Leader before ultimately being promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Bradley was co-owner of Wiles & Bradley Concrete in 1969. He founded Bradley & Sons Concrete in 1974 with his first wife Shirley, and in 1984 Bradley & Sons Designer Concrete with his sons Bobby and Eric. Bradley & Sons Designer Concrete was a pioneer in the decorative concrete industry. He retired in 1998. Bob and Nancy became snowbirds shortly after their marriage in 1983, spending their winters in Pompano Beach, FL. Later Mr. Bradley moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where he enjoyed golfing with his fellow Irishman, Jim Doherty. An avid boatman, he returned to Maryland in the summer for the pleasures of the Chesapeake Bay, family and friends. He may hold the world record for consumption of MD Steamed Crabs and a cold beverage. Those who knew him loved his sense of humor, quick wit and mischievous smile. Survivors include his loving children: Robert L. Bradley, III and his wife Robin of Bear, DE, Terri L. Bradley and her fiancé David of Los Angeles, CA, Daphne B. Young and her husband Greg of Pembroke Pines, FL and Eric H. Bradley and his wife Marcy of Earleville, MD; his stepchildren: Rhonda Hill and Stacey Lundin both of Newark, DE; two sisters: Judy Burk and her husband Richard of Potomac, MD, Nancy Trask and her husband Dick of Franklin Twp, PA and one brother: James D. Bradley and his wife Nola of Venice Beach, FL; cousin, Jim Reier of FL; 10 grandchildren: Robert IV, Laura, Hailey and Jack Bradley; Robert Fragale; Adam, Kyle and Connor Young; Russell and Kevin Lundin; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services, conducted by Rev. Robert McKnight will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 1:00 PM.
