Robert Lewis Bowlsbey

Robert Lewis Bowlsbey, 77 of Elkton, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 after a long illness.

He was born on April 25, 1940, the son of the late James I and Edith (Castelow) Bowlsbey of Childs, MD.  After high school he served in the US Air Force.

Bob retired after being a car carrier driver for Leaseway Motor Freight for 37 years.  He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Newark, DE.  He loved to fish and hunt; but the joy of his life was his Lord, family and friends.  Nothing made him happier than to have the house full of family, friends and loved ones.

To cherish his memories are his loving wife: Carlena M. Bowlsbey; their 4 children: Robert (Bob) Bowlsbey, Jr. (Mary) of Naples, FL, Cheri Kitts (Jim), Wendy Bowlsbey all of Elkton, MD, and Dawn Long (John Jr.) of Hanover, PA; 2 brothers: James Bowlsbey II of Elkton, MD, Joseph Bowlsbey (Pat) of North East, MD; a sister: Alice Reynolds (Sterling) of Childs, MD.  He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Jacob and Zachary Bowlsbey both of Naples, FL, Stephen Kitts (Bethany), Timothy Kitts (T.J.) all of Elkton, MD, Courtney Stienstra (Ryan) of Wilmington, DE, Robyn Meyers (Chris) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Elaina, Tucker and Marshall Long all of Hanover, PA; and 3 great grandchildren: Lily and Rhys Meyers of Cherry Hill, NJ and Robert Thomas Kitts of Elkton, MD.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister: Mary Ralston; a brother: Harold Bowlsbey; and great granddaughter: Penelope Rose Meyers.

Funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dennis Gilbert and Rev. Charles Pritt will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow services in Union Cemetery, Elkton, MD.

There will be a fellowship gathering following interment at Charlestown Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Charlestown, MD.
