Richard "Dick" Lynn Osbun

Richard Lynn (Dick) Osbun passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 at Caraway Manor Assisted Living, Elkton, MD.

He was born on October 17, 1935 in Lancaster OH, the eldest son of the late Paul E. and Helen (McCandlish) Osbun.  He is survived by his brother, David Osbun of Tampa FL; nephews, Alexander Osbun and Mark Osbun; nieces, Phyllis McCrory, Pamela Valentine and Paula Osbun; brother-in-law, Larry Pigman of Pine Top, KY, niece, Kelly Stephens; nephew, Marcus Pigman; and close friend, Ken Blomquist of North East, MD. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Jack; and beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis.

Dick studied mechanical engineering at Ohio State where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.  He joined the US Army in 1970 and while stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground fell in love with Hances Point and Phyllis Pigman.  They married in 1970 and made and later built their home in Hances Point, where they lived happily until Phyllis' passing in 2020.

Dick worked in computer science at Hercules in Wilmington DE from 1965 until his retirement. He was a member of the North East River Yacht Club, the North East Men's Stock Club and served as treasurer of the Hances Point Community Association for many years.  He enjoyed art, fine food and drink, Ohio State football, and large dogs.

A memorial service will be held at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main St., North East, MD on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 7:00 pm with Father John Schaffer of St. Mary Anne's Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hances Point Community Association Memorial Tree Fund or PAWS for People both in care of the funeral home.
