Richard N. Shumway
He was born on May 3, 1919, the son of John G. and Letha (Nye) Shumway.
Richard served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he met and married his lifelong partner, W. Ann (Russell) Shumway on Feb. 12, 1946.
He was a lifelong carpenter and member of Local Union #626 out of Wilmington, DE. After retirement, he enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with family. He was a member and very active in the local Masonic and Shriner’s Chapter; and a member of the Perryville American Legion, Susquehanna Post 135.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents: John and Letha Shumway; brothers: Roy and Robert Shumway; and sisters; Margaret and Bernice.
He is survived by his wife: W. Ann Shumway; brother: John Shumway; sister: Jean Wilson; son: R. Douglas Shumway; daughter: Susan M. Shumway; 5 grandchildren: Jason, Josh, Michael, Shawn and Aimee; and 4 great grandchildren: Megan, Macy, Trystan and Chloe.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery.
