Richard Frank Maska, Jr. "Rick", of Rising Sun, MD, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2011, where he was surrounded by his loving family, at the much too young age of 47, following a courageous one year battle with brain cancer. Born in Woodbury, NJ, on August 2, 1964, Rick was the loving son of Richard Frank Maska, Sr. and Joan Marie Knoll Maska, of National Park, NJ. Rick was the beloved and devoted husband of 28 years of Kelleigh Hoffman Maska, having lived in Rising Sun, MD for the last 25 years, where they acquired a lifetime of friends and memories. Rick was the Chief Operating Officer of The Berg Corporation, where he was dutifully employed for the last 17 years, where he worked side by side with his buddies Zach Gilden, David Berg, Howard Shearer, and Chris Trendell. Among the many activities he enjoyed, he especially enjoyed watching and attending the games of the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles, and he loved playing golf. Rick also loved watching movies in his home theatre while eating popcorn and drinking chocolate banana milkshakes, smoking cigars poolside while watching his family frolic in their backyard, working out with his son, and riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. He enjoyed spending summer vacations with his family in Avon, NC, but most of all, he loved every minute of time he got to spend with his inseparable family. In addition to his loving wife Kelleigh, Rick's survivors include his three children: Amanda Maska Allen and her husband Cody, Lindsey Maska Strecker and her husband Rob, and Richard Maska and his wife Ashly. The apples of his eye were his four wonderful grandchildren: Hudson, Noah, Chase, Mason and soon to be baby boy Maska; Rick is also survived by his two dogs Toby and Cooper. He is also survived by a brother: Mark M. Maska and his wife Kimmy of West Deptford, NJ; loving in-laws Ken and Ruth Ann Hoffman, and nieces and nephews: Stephanie Schranck, Lauren Maska, Scott Ross, Kyle Maska and Joe Hoffman, one sister, and a legion of devoted friends. The family would love it if you could join them for Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Harold Phillips, on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downin Lane, Port Deposit, MD, where visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until service time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made in Rick's name to the National Brain Tumor Society, 300 Water Street, Suite 103, Wilmington, DE 19801.
