Rev. Robert Granville Kelly, 74 of Bear, DE, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born in Marydel, MD, on December 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Granville Riley and the late Dorothy (Bowdle) Kelly.
He was a 1955 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy; a 1960 graduate of Lincoln University and a 1965 graduate of Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, PA.
Rev. Kelly was a retired United Methodist Minister, serving 36 years in the Peninsula Conference. His Lord and family came first then horses, computers, reading and talking with whomever was at hand, making friends out of complete strangers!
Survivors include his wife of 53 years minus 1 day: Ann B. Kelly; his children: Robert G. Kelly, II (Terri), Andrew W. Kelly (Janet), ”The Favorite“ Katie Cathleen Sinclair (Kevin) and Benjamin B. Kelly (Bridget); 1 sister: Dottie “Kelly” Price (Wally); 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way in Sept.; and his dog Coco.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas J. Kelly, a sister, Christine K. Smith and his childhood pony, Champ.
A Graduation to GLORY Celebration will be held at the convenience of the family.
